OK I'm here. I checked in to see what you boys and girls have been up to. I am watching my equipment go to pot. I am in desperate need for a full machine maintenance. All blades in the shop are shot but I still run them anyway ( i'll send them out later ) I have been playing daddy lately but have still found the time to create new masterpieces. I have a busy year ahead of me and don't think I will have much time for machine talk, motorcycle tinkering or riding :cry.. And I might as well forget about the house improvoments I had planned.
he's back! my oliver 166 16 has the most beat knives on the planet so you are not the only one, am i proud of it? not really, there happens to be a 166 9" nested next to it with fresh knives in it, remember the 30" yates planer pete turned me on too? spent 2 days setting up and it still tears out, not terrible but enough to be a problem, machine maintenance can totaly take up days on end, so it easy to just keep pushing and double up on the ear muffs, it will all happen sooner or later, at least thats what i keep telling myself, you still ahve not translated your message to me, no speak fricky dicky french, keep in touch, glad to hear from you
My Oliver 166 20" has a major nick in the middle, It's like having two 10" jointers. I never seem to avoid it, and it is bad enough that I worry that the boards don't lay flat on the out feed table.
I have been debating buying a back-up set of knives, but am not sure of the best source at the moment. I bought two sets of knives for my planer from schmidt, and they seem to be getting little micro nicks kinda quickly.
This thread is turning in a "confessions of a machinejunkie"
