Time saver button placement

Post by mr douglas t »

Today I spent some extra time to wire in an emergency stop button on my wide belt sander. Why one might ask, after all this time do it now. It all has to do with button placement and my ability to have children. The emergency shut off buttons and start buttons are all on a panel to the right. Yesterday I was running a wide piece on a shoot type bord. The piece was not centererd so I leaned over the board to shut the machine down. I only hit the stop button for the head, not the belt of the table. At that time the table pinched the front of my pants and started to draw me in. Only after being lifted off the ground by the front of my pants was able to reach the converyor stop button.
I am pleased to say that no vital parts were lost in this incident.
To all junkies "Wire well located stop buttons so other buttons are not lost"

Mr. Douglas that is quite a story! I have seen timesavers with a bump stop that runs the width of the conveyor. I suppose this would be the best placement to help prevent your genitals from getting sanded. Where did you mount your new emergency stop?
