Post by mystry_tour »

I am looking for a scale that will fit on a B3 State OSS. The one on it is non workable. Altho there is no real need for it I would still like to see if I can get one.....any ideas

Hey Reg, I am not sure if State- who is still around http://www.statemfg.com/ would sell you a tilty gauge- and whether the more modern one would be correct for your sander, but it is certainly where I would start.

The other route would be making a decal one if you were crazy for it- or trying to find a parts machine- like a needle in a haystack. I am pretty sure that the scale on my State B4 Spindle sander was the same as on the State 15" disc sanders, but I have sold off my 15" and cannot do a comparison for you. I do not know if the B3 and B4 used the same scale.

Me, I would leave it be, definitely not something I use with that machine- I end up setting a t- bevel if I want an angle. now this would also be a perfect situation for a magnetic base digital level like one of our members- swparish uses. I will try to find the thread that he gave a review.

Thanks Pete. No I'm not going to be fanatical about it but just thought I would seee if they were available. Its a sander to me not a show piece. I use my stuff to work not just show off. It will get some paing and has new leads and bearing and seal. so its good as new

I would definitely place the call to state- sometimes you can be surprised.

I have a precision drill press that was missing it front belt guard. A beautiful machine that I stole for $25. After Years of scheming on how to make a guard, I found the company was still in business. A month or two of procrastination and I called. Wouldn't you know it they had a used guard- like new that they sold me for $25 including shipping- he adjusted the price to get it to exactly $25 because that was their minimum. I would have payed more, I can't tell you how much work that saved, plus mine would never have been as nice.

As an update to the story- it seems they are now out of business- should have made more money on me, that is no way to run a company.
