Sander Comming Soon

Hey all you junkies hows your day. Well you all know I have been looking for a wide belt sander for a while. Well A friend contacted me last week and had one he was selling and offered it to me at a good price so I took it. Its a Jet but he said it was one of the older ones and it was well built. He sent me pics o fit and he has taken good care of it as I know the guy personally and know how he treats his machines. So I had him ship it to me and I should get it next week one day and I will post pics when I do get it.

Congrats! You will not know how you lived without it.

What size? how many HP? does it have a platen?

It is a 25 inch and dose have a platen and a new roller. It has a 15 hp motor. I will get some pics when I get it to the shop. It has a good convayor belt with electronic tracking.

Well I go t it in the shop Sat. Its a little heaver than I thought and in really good shape. I don't have the manual yet and really never had a sander so I am not sure what all the tubeing is but I do know it has electronic sensors for the teacking and I am guessing air for the belt tentioning. It appears to have a electric raise and lower button and also a wheel too. The conveyor looks like it could use a little flattening but no tares or rip so looks in pretty nice shape. Will try to post some pics of it in the next few days

congrats, sander will change your operation (a wise man once said) feed belts get funny in the middle when they get older and sit for a while, see how it does after you get it up and running. i had to replace my timesaver 37" for the same reason, they do not last forever, also light passes help them last longer, agressive sanding is hard on a machine.

tracking is most likely electronic eyes that signal air pistons that do the work, those are the hoses you are mentioning. clean out the air filter and any lines you can access without major teardown, also grease the bearings as most woodworkers do not own a grease gun (no offense junkies, i know WE all do)

make sure your main drive drum is in good shape and not badly worn, cracked or out of round. you can make a drum resurfacer with by double facing some dead flat stock with 80 grit paper, use a 25" belt and cut apart and glue to both sides of mdf or something like that that is really flat and run through with NO sanding belt on, very light passes and smell!
you will have to disable tracking sensor, most likely will tell the logic that there is no belt and not want to start, all this should be in the manual.

i replaced my drum and they screwed up and sent me two! no kidding, i have a spare, everyone gets lucky!

Thanks Dude. The drum is new on it so that is a good thing. I will get some pics tomorrow and try to get them posted. I am useing another cam so it may take me a bit to think it through and get it to the room....

I got stuff comming out my ears. Got to wire the baby in, get the dust system plumed in, a OSS torn down waiting for two U-Drive pins for the agitator in the bottom, of course, wireing the back room now, and its getting time to set out the garden.....

But its getting to be fun now since I am doing all this the shop stays very clean.

There.....whew. I think it was a combo of us both Pete but anyhow there it is and should be wired in tomorrow with the air hooked up and ready to run. I had to go for a 3ph 50 amp breaker today so I just have to put it in

I got it wired in a week ago and almost have the dust system finished, should be finished today....yey. I am only pipeing the planer and the sander for the time being. I found the 6" spiral pipe for $1.33 a foot and joints for $15 at a local place. I will post some pics tonight so you can see what I have done. Man this is getting exciteing.
I snaged about 700 B/F of ash 8/4 for $.88 B/F and am looking fwd to starting some cabinets for the home soon.
Got any good sorces for some 25" belts for the sander. That thing put's out some serious dust. I am looking for maybe 80 and 100 grit.

Looks great. Nice dust collector. is it an oneida? did you have the company design your dust system for your shop?

dust is one of the main things I have a hard time controlling. In my new shop I will put a better effort into dust collection.

Yes its an Onida with the american made baldor motor insted of the china thing. No I didn't have them design my system. I have so little machines that will be running more than one at a time it shouldn't be a problem with the 6" pipe to pull the poop stains out of my underwear if nessary

LOL Dude. I fired it up today and ran some 4x4's through it for building an outfeed/workbench table for the table saw. And your right. No skid marks in the shorts AND same size blanks for the posts. I'm going out now to put them together and maybe tomorrow I will have some pics for you of the finished product
