Sanding Belt Question

Post by crzypete »

I am curious if sanding belts are completely parallel. do they have any reverse crown like many rollers have in order to track better.

The reason I ask is I have a scotchbrite belt for my timesaver that I would like to cut in half to run on my vertical belt. Both machine take a 48" long belt. I guess I could try a spent sanding belt first, but thought there might be some knowledge.... Any thoughts?

Hi Pete,
Not sure about the bigger belts but I can't see them takeing the extra cost to doing that to a belt when we have ajustments to make the belt track. I used a lot of belt sandpaper when I use to wetsand glass and there was only one rubber wheel I think the crown of that wheel is what made the belt track correctly
