no...I'll tell you the price. I gave $900 for it. only thing I need to do to it is put on new tires a plug and get the 3 PH put into the shop and I'm back to sniffing sawdust again.
Seems like some of you guys are haveing a martini without the glass
It was a sweet deal. there were two guys in vancover that got in touch withthe owner befor I did and I almost didn't get it but the shipping from Pa. was a bit steep for them $2000 to get it there......I went and picked it up

$900 that's pretty damn sweet, I paid half that for my tanny, but it was an absolute wreck, (restoration photos on the way). I am finally realizing the true value of plug-in condition. Unfortunately I really like nice paint, and rarely find machines that I can leave alone.

The saw on eBay is going up- already higher than I thought- $2,225. Any thoughts where it will end? I didn't realize how coveted these were.

Hi Mystry, I can tell you too much about bondo work on machines. One of these day I will post some pics of the middle parts of some of the rebuilds I have done.

The saw ended at $3025 reserve not met, so your guess was right on.

After I think about it, and other auctions too...its pretty smart. If you have osmething and not sure what it will bring....set a high reserve and see what someone will offer....

I don't know, I find that reserves actually keep the bidding down. I know it is less exciting for me if I know the seller has an item up for absolute auction to the highest bidder. A reserve might mean they are puffing the crack pipe wanting to get $10k for a $4K machine.

I have to admit though I have thought about the strategy myself. There are always those machines that you don't use much, you know the one that collects more dust than the others. Well It is nice to have that machine sitting there in the corner, but certainly a nice tidy sum of cash would look better in that corner. But if that pile of cash wasn't big enough I'd be happy to let the machine stay....

I am thinking in particular about my Oliver patternmakers lathe. It is sure nice to have around, but I don't remember the last time I turned.

I never like to be limited by the machines I have. Being able to build whatever you can imagine allows for the greatest creativity in design.

Hey mystry. All sounds exciting. Curious if you are 3 phase from a converter or off the grid. Curious if you are having an electrical inspection, or if all that was done and this is post CO.

Lastly I am not sure I knew you found a lathe, do post some details, and as always pics make us salivate.

Well its been a hectic week of running wire and most flustrating at trying to get breakers for the panell box. It seems they don't stock anything around here for 3 ph and most of the stuff I have found is for 600 volts AND there happens to be 3 typs of breakers for my particular box. I have been building walls cooking parts for the stoke sander. I got the Bridgport in the shop and set. I will be putting the disconcet box up tomorrow and wireing it in. I had to order a disconect for the panel box and can't get it till Thursday and my vacation is over Mon. Yuck. I should have some of the parts for the strok sander painted tonight and have them back in the shop tomorrow. The lathe will be here Tuesday and I will be bringing it home and parking the tralior in ths shop waiting for the next day to get it off and set in its new spot. I also got the DRO in and will start reading and learning how to mount it to the mill this comming week. Tomorrow I PROMIS to take some pics of what I have going on in the shop

Mystry, 600 volts is generally a rating of "up to capacity"- most stuff is either rated up to 300v or 600 volts- this does not mean it won't work for lower capacities- just check any plug with info on it- it will be rated to a certain voltage- or even any cord- The SJ (black rubber jacket) always is rated 300v or 600v

Never-the-less, buying new 3 phase breakers is never a cheap experience. I picked up a whole box of used breakers at a sale for way less than the cost of one new one.

You still haven't told us what brand of lathe you bought- it's turning into a mystry......
