I have a little trick I thought of while thinking about the drill press tapping. I did a little work on it tonight but will do more tomorrow. Its a little thing I did in machineshop when I was going through class. Granted a tapping head would be sweet but I do so little I can't justify it yet. So tomorrow I will get a few pics of the little gismo I am makeing to ensure a stright tapped hole

Well here is the little gizmo I put together today, total price $1.10 +tax

The spring pushes down the little plunger keeping tention on the tap as you start the threads. It only needs to travel about 1/4 inch to get a good start in the part to be threaded.
