Howdy Forum;
Just unloaded my heaviest non-automotive possession, a Hammond Glider G4b, serial # 8020. Three days ago, in a thrift-store I saw it and after reading everything in this forum on Gliders I couldn't resist. This is my first piece of antique iron, my first attempted restoration of a machine. I am planning on drilling my own blades at first. Any tips on motor selection/ purchasing? Any tips on resisting the urge to glide the table for no good reason? Thank you for being here Machine junkie
What e nice find. The light and the aluminum guard in place and not broken is a rare find. I have a 1 hp motor on my saw. It works just fine. Ebay is a great source. Farm and tractor supply also have new motors at fairly good prices. Did you get the finger gauge and the top clamp with the machine? If not send me a PM, I have an extra one. Enjoy.

I have a 2 hp farm duty Baldor on mine. I bought it years ago for about $150. If I recall I might have changed the drive pulley because the motor was a different speed. I will have to take a look.
Thanks for the tip. I've got a lock on some 1Hp motors on Ebay. A 3450 rpm motor, maintaining stock pulley ratio is appropriate, no? Does anyone have strong feelings about arbor speeds on the Glider?
