I am looking to buy a Hammond Glider and just beginning the research on the saws. I have never seen one in person. I am a furniture maker looking for a second table saw for the shop to do joinery work. I currently use an Inca saw for this purpose. I am happy to wait and find the best Hammond for my use rather than find the first on that comes along.
I gather from reading the posts that the G100 is what I should be looking for. Is that right? I would like a batter gauge on my saw but it sounds like that doesn't often happen with a G100.
Is it best to wait for a saw with all the accessories? Looks like they are hard to come by if you don't get them with the saw.
Any other advice you have for a newbie would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

What is the best Hammond Glider?

Accessories would't stop me from buying a saw, as they seem to come up on ebay every now and then. Finding a saw that is close and in reasonable shape is always the first step.
Although I am partial to the G-100 as being the finest saw that Hammond made, I would in no means discourage you from finding a G4b. The G4b us an extremely fine saw in its own right. Truthfully the subtleties between the machines are not particularly function related. The G4b has the advantage of a higher raising blade, the G-100 has a nicer ball system.
I do think that the G4 without the B is a step down as it does not have hardened ways for the balls to ride in and they do get worn.
The batter gage on the G-100 is not a deal breaker, they are rare, but could be made.
Let us know how you make out!
