Fence for Hammond Glider

Hello,
I am new to the forum and interested in finding a Hammond Glider. I have read most of the posts but I didn't see anything about a fence for the saws. Seems like there have been many other modifications to the saw. Why not a fence?

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure why you would want a fence. It would require making the sliding table fence removable and goes against how the saw is designed.

I was thinking about a fence for the saw that just sat to the right of the blade and did not interfere with the sliding table. Maybe something like a long batter gauge that let you rip long stock. I don't use the fence on my INCA all that often but I do use it.

I guess the finger lets you rip long thin stock. Is that how you do it? Maybe you would only need the fence if you wanted to rip something longer than 19".

I haven't seen a saw in person yet. I asked the question about a fence because I am just trying to understand how you work with Hammond Glider and what it's limitations are.

If you had a fence to the right of the blade, any stock that you tried to rip that was wider than the kerf of the blade would hit the fence on the sliding table. Try to think if it more like a chop saw replacement than a table saw replacement. It is super great for small parts and completely excels at most cross-cutting. But it is not a ripping machine. To rip a long thin strip, I go to the table saw.
