You are definitely not being overly sensitive. That looks pretty bad, worse than I had thought it might be. I was hoping that after we had discussed my similarly bad experience with Carter's quick change tires that you would find a good resolution to this. For the expense involved in this type of tire they should be perfect.

thanks for the input, I am glad you back up my instinct.
As to new plans, I do not have one yet. I may try grinding the current wheels to restore the crown. The rubber seems a bit hard which is a negative as it may have aged past the point of usefulness. But perhaps there is some fresh rubber within.
Right now it is backburnered again as I have not been using it that much.
