The footers were poured this morning. Here is the story:

The forms are up, ready for concrete:

The truck arrives and the crete is flowing

For the last 10 feet of pour the truck gets into a sticky spot, it is stuck and a mess.

It took an hour to get the truck free, what a mucky mess.

It looks like there was a lot of concrete poured. did you pull ot a couple of molds to make a few extra pieces?

Looks great Pete. Did you have to have a toe truck to get him out or did it finally make it

They finally rocked him out, quite a mess though. The tow truck was on its way. they said that this was a bad one one even by their standards.

Guzzi- no molds to fill, actually I think they pour it wetter than I do.

Crzy,

Glad to hear that no tow truck was needed. Who would have paid that bill anyway?

I like the cross braces on the top of the forms, I am not used to seeing that. Also I have to say it looks like your mason bought a sheet of OSB for your job! That is very un-mason like. It seems that they take pride in finding their footer form materials on the side of the road, driftwood, post tornado clean up and the like.

More progress.

The footers are stripped and marked with chalk lines

The forms are brought on site and laid around

And quickly erected. The forms will not get filled all the way up, but you will see concrete wall on the inside of the building.

Hopefully the walls will be poured soon. My mason has been delayed.

You tow guys are getting those shops up in good time. I am pulling for you to have them ready to work out of befor the white stuff visits again.

More pics from the north.

The wall forms are all up and they will pour them on monday. This pic is from before they were quite finished. The forms do not get filled all they way up, there are going to be three steps. Once they pour, I actually begin to be able to work on the building. Very exciting.

Nice progress. I am sure that you are looking forward to working so that the pace will be set by you and not one of the subs. I am eager to see how all of the steps will work out.

lots of progress has been made and photos are coming soon. I am working with some internet issues up here.

The foundation is in the process of being backfilled which should be complete monday.

hi everyone, sorry for the delay. Here are some new pics.

the forms all ready to pour

three concrete trucks arrive and everything is going smoothly.

Then, all hell breaks loose. The skies open open with torrential downpours. They manage to get all three trucks stuck at different points, and the masons scream louder the harder it rains.

They manage to get the trucks out by pulling them with each other and for one moment my excavator shows up and pulls a really bad one. The rains stop completely as soon as they are done pouring and the results the following day when they strip look good.

the walls get sealed and are ready to be backfilled

currently we are mostly backfilled and getting ready to prep for the slab.

next up is the slab and radiant floor system, then it is lumber time. work continues today as they are spreading the gravel subbase for the slab

all done with some notches for footers

WOW....nice touch Pete. I wish I had done that but at the time it didn't seem important. Hinesight is 20/20. If your wife is like my girlfriend she keeps watching to make sure I don't slip a bed in ther since I spend most of my time in there.

Crzy,

I like the progress, especially how the haunched footings and the footings for the posts have worked out.

I have been thinking about Mystry's post in my thread about the burlap on the slab to slow the cure, I think that you may want to consider setting up a few sprinklers so that you can wet the slab down quickly and frequently. I would think that the beating sunshine would be a problem.

I definitely will try to slow the slab curing down, thanks for the advice.

Lots of progress these past couple of days. The excavator finished up the grading and built the new driveway.

The electrician came and installed a junction box and buried cable.

The mesh was placed for the slab

My trusty radiant heat expert came by and we installed a whole bunch of pex. Many thanks Mrdouglas!

Here is the pex all installed, love that orange!.

The pex went so well that we actually got to install the sill plates as well- no pics yet. all and all I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel which puts the building into my hands. I have the slab to wait for, but then I am responsible for the pace and construction.
