I have no data on the blades I have but I thought they were all spec'ed for cutting lead. I can clamp the rod no problem. Can I use paraffin as a lube?
I know the standard blade is meant for cutting lead type bars but will it cut 3/8" aluminum rod without problems?
I got this from Lowes: http://preview.tinyurl.com/ygjzr6s
This is not EMT. It is 1/8" thick pipe. As for the hacksaw route, it took many many cuts and was unsquare and rough. I will try the air cutter next. I think I'll pick up a pipe cutter ($15-$20) at HF this weekend as well. That would give the squarest cleanest cut. Update: OK, I tried the cutter...
Do not try cutting steel pipe with a carbide blade... That's a good way to get hurt... Yeah, I have now read in several forums and in the saw's manual NOT to use abrasive wheels or cut ferrous metals. I forgot that I bought a 3" High Speed Air Cutter on sale at HF about a year ago. I've never ...
OK Pete. So it is the speed that is a problem and not the blade itself. This pipe is standard galvanized "iron" pipe from Home Despot. I did try a hacksaw but the unsquare rough cut was miserable. I don't think a pipe cutter designed for mostly copper would work do you? I'll have to invest...
It's been a while since I visited here. Does anybody know if I can safely cut 1" galvanized pipe with the standard blade that comes with the BGR-78 (see pics in previous post)? Is galv. iron considered a 'soft' metal?

Thanks.Pete I tried to resize them via html code but this site is highly dysfunctional so it doesn't work. BBCode also does not work properly. Note what happens when you quote someone. I will have to m...

Sweet, a benchtop glider- of the g-100 era. I owned one for a while- very cute machines. Please post a picture. You will love the saw. Almost forgot, welcome to the forum and congrats on the saw. Pete Yes, a benchtop model so it's very portable. I was easily able to transport it in a mini-van. The ...
Hello, I just joined the group because I recently bought a TrimOSaw, largely based on what I read here. It is really fantastic. I want to remove/adjust the trimmer blades. I loosened the large set screw on the perimeter of the face plate of one of them but I can't budge the blade. I tried gently tap...
