OK, so I finally read the manual you gave me the link to. It address the table not being aligned to the blade issue, here’s what it says: “If, upon setting up the machine, it is found that the saw blades protruding through the slot in the table do not line up accurately with the table, then it is qu...

Hey Pete, Things are looking good. You’re going much further than I did in my rebuild. My stop looks exactly the same. And yes, I think it is the same as the 45. I couldn't find mine (I just took it out) but I think I remembered someone tried to braze it and it didn't work. You've got so much levera...

Ok. I think I figured out my pic problem. Here’s one of the lock down on the fence and the pointer for the ruler. Maybe you can see it better now. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4101/4799683163_5cbe524ffb_b.jpg Here’s a shot of the miter gauge. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/4800312602_d1768489...

Well, I sorry there wasn’t any drama. There’s nothing like surveying an insurmountable mountain, developing a foolproof plan, then careening headlong into the abyss while everyone on the sidelines laughs hysterically. I look forward to the rebuild. Maybe it’ll inspire me to clean up mine… or maybe n...

I was lucky in that mine came with both miter gauges that had matching numbers to the saw. And the right miter gauge slot has the insert that continues the inches engraved across the table. It also came with a rip fence and the pins that fit into the table. But my throat plate was ruined. It looked ...

Congrats on the new saw. You can't beat the sound. And remember, it won't stop… for anything. I called Tanniwitz when I first got the saw, to see if they’d send me a manual. The guy I spoke with said they wouldn’t and they don’t make that saw any more or provide any support for it because of the lia...

OK, so this shows just how little I know. All my three phase tools work properly. But when I wired them originally I didn’t know there was any difference in the voltage. So did I just get lucky and wire them correctly or are they just wired kinda right and I’ve got too much juice going to something?...

OK, when I first started reading this thread, it was all way over my head so I just skimmed it and said “huh?”. Anyway now I’ve had an experience that has caused me to reread it to try to figure out what you guys are talking about. I have 3 phase in my shop, and I assumed that I knew how it worked. ...

Pretty. It appears from the distance that the photos were taken that there isn't any red on the Oliver nameplate. I would draw your attention to a previous post by Pete illustrating in some detail how one should go about doing that job properly. http://machinejunkie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12 I me...

Hey Nico, things are looking good. A couple of questions. Is the lever on the end of the head the brake? And if it is, is it mechanical or electronic? You mentioned the electronic brake was removed. I always thought electronic brakes worked by reversing polarity of the windings, or something like th...

Hey Nico, Got here late so I don’t know if this is relevant, but… First off, congrats on the new acquisition. Second, I’m in total agreement with Guzzi. If I thought painting my machines would make my shop clean and organized, I’d do it in a heartbeat. With that being said, I definitely believe in t...

Man, that's one sweet Oliver workbench. I've never seen one of those in their product line. Do you think install location will be as flat as your jointer? I usually yell at people if they decide to use my tools as a work bench. But when I do it, as I'm sure the case is here, I'd be yelling at myself...

OK, I started cleaning things up. I don’t know what electric parts cleaner is, but I figured that if the grease hadn’t damaged anything, then some other petroleum based product wouldn’t either. So, I got a paintbrush and tooth brush and went to work with some kerosene. Things cleaned up pretty easy....

Stay tuned for another episode of “As The Nut Turns”, where today we will rejoin Stephen in his quest to loosen the front bearing nut from his tablesaw. Will he succeed or will his nemesis drive him to a fetal position, sobbing like a baby on his shop floor? OK, I read the replies and this is what I...

You were right Pete. I got out the magnifying glass and a bright light, crawled into the cabinet and it appears as though they are left handed threads. After thinking about it, it would make sense considering that the stub arbor butts up against it and it’s reverse threads. If they were regular thre...

OK, I’ve decided to take a new direction. I’ve decided that the pipe only serves to support the pins, and really provides no force in itself to the nut. So what I really need to do is provide massive support to the pins. To this end, I decided that the nut the pin was threading through was not enoug...

Great minds… Pete, your tool is what I would’ve made if I had a lathe. I had already thought of the threaded aspect of the bolts. Anyway, here’s the story: I took a trip to Lowes and rummaged around in their plumbing and electrical depts. putting my tape measure on anything close to the right ID. I ...
