Machine Shop Source for Grinding Table Tops

Hi everyone: I am thinking of doing some restoration work on my jointer that will probably include having the tops ground. Can anyone recommend a machine shop in Northern New Jersey/New York.

I did, and the phone came up disconnected. I started calling around and was directed to Thul Machine in Plainfield (908-754-3800). I talked to the owner, Bill Miles, and he told me that he can do blanchard grinding up to 108"which more than large enough to do the tops. Each table on the jointer requires a grinder of 54" or larger.
Now I have to find time to take apart the jointer!

Bill, Did you get any ballpark pricing? I dream of one day getting the table to my gang drill press ground.

Pete: He said .15$ per sq/in. plus set up time. Most of that will be in supporting and shimming the underside to make it flat. How uneven the underside is will affect how long it takes and the price, and the tighter the tolerances,the longer it will probably take to get it positioned correctly.
For me, I would not be as concerned about the tolerances of a band saw table as I would be for a jointer. That is the discussion you will have with him after he sees what you brought. If you go to the trouble to take the tops off your jointer, you are pretty much committed to go all the way. For a band saw table, probably not so.
I forgot to ask him what the hourly rate is for set up.

Thanks Bill, That is somewhere on the order of $300 plus set-up. pretty fair if you ask me. The gang drill press is 7' long. My dream is to find a local shop s o I do not have to deal with the hassle of shipping, but perhaps a New jersey shop could be combined with other errands.....
