Looks like your doing a fine job Pete. Nice to have friends that will lend a hand and help out.
I guess you are going to do the frame work and roof the building

Finally some more pics......

Special visitors- we even had cookies for them, although this was the only board they carried to earn them. Thanks for stopping John and Lorrie, good seeing you, but next time we put you to work.

Look, it is actually a picture of me working on the building. I was beginning to think this wasn't going to happen. The first wall going up.

Hi Pete,
Was thinking about your shop today. Thought I was gonna have to come to NY to see how it was going. Concrete is a water dependant substance. I did a lot of looking befor I let the guys pour mine. Don't let them talk you into pouring it real dry. Even after it appears dry it is still doin gits thing in hardening. That was the reason the old timer told me to keep it wet.....and I poured 6" of concreat because of all the heavy arn.

Crzy,

Great work, it is so nice to see the walls going up! Am I correct that you boxed in for one exhaust fan located in the woodshop? If you did, nice touch.

We have our fingers crossed that the masons come today, the sooner they come the sooner they go and the memory will fade of their lack of performance.

P.S. we got cookies without moving the board, love the action shot.

floor was poured yesterday and sealed today. Last wall was built today, and perhaps the best news, the cable company showed up and began the installation process for internet access. Once that becomes active I promise to be very prompt with pics. more soon. Tomorrow we sheath.

How about the quality of the floor? I hope it passes the Crzy quality control.

the next day is spent straightening the walls to prepare for sheathing.

Today I spent working alone and sheathing. I hung 31 sheets of 5/8 osb

To answer some questions.

Nektai, i would say that the slab is not up to my standards, but as you know my standards are high. The hole in the wall up high is for an exhaust fan.

Mystry, if you show up, we will put a hammer in your hand. I kept the slab wet and sealed it quickly which will help contain the moisture.

That's all the progress for now. My next two weeks will be spent in Philadelphia as I will be participating in the International Turning Exchange.
There is a blog covering the residency here: http://www.lynneyamaguchi.com/wordpress/

That is all for now.

Wow,

That is quite the solo feat, how is your back? Your back should heal during your two weeks away.

I don't know what the tanni is worth but I remember it being my favorite saw when I was at school. When you turned that saw on you felt the wind blow through your hair. mucho power. :D

Jugadro, Come on down and we will give you some real experience.

Mystry The tany is worth $300- $1500 if you are buying and $600- $2000 if you are selling.

Things are going well down here, but I am itching to get back to building the studio.

we have been gettin' on the building. Lots of help here this week. Plus, today we have received the ultra bonus- Internet access. I promise to have way more updates and progress reports.

Here are pics from this past week. We are working on the interior walls.

Also standing up some scaffold

and affixing scaffold to the sides of the building- these will help with the trusses.

Next is the platform for a loft above the downstairs rooms.

Starting a new post for the trusses which arrived on thursday morning.

Image

The trusses have an attic space in them which should be quite useful. Here we are getting ready to ramp one up the end on the building onto the platform.
Image

temporary rails are constructed in order to slide them the length of the building
Image

Standing the first truss up
Image

it's beginning to look like a building
Image

from afar, you can see the ramps for both steps that the trusses have to travel.
Image

Our day was ended today by a power outage. Tomorrow we begin in earnest to stand the trusses and create a roof.
