Hi All,
Well I am new to this board so I figured I would say hello. I found my way here thanks to a chance meeting with Pete. I listed the gang drill press he is working on for a friend. He ended up buying the Drill Press. Week later or so he kindly shared this site with me so I could watch the restoration. I hae read a bunch of posts already and figure I will learn more from you guys then you may from me. But if you let me hang around I will . I do have some wood and metal habits. I Do some woodworking. Mainly make furniture for my own uses. My other main thing is my metal habit I started making knives a few years ago, hunting knives fishing knives, bowie knives. Its become a slight addiction one that has coused me to start buying metal tools. I just recently added a surface grinder. Called a Robot. Old iron. I figure now i got twice the problem I need a metal shop and a wood shop.
Anyway I will try to post when i can and see if I can share anythign with the board.

lol Thom. When I built my house I wanted to do everything except get it under roof and roof it. I did. Now I can say I did it down to the electric work, color blind,. I used almost a gallong of mud on the bathroom walls learning lol. Now repairs I want done on things I hire someone lol.
I do like working on things though but I will enjoy the shop much more when I get it functional again.

Yep I started doing all wood stuff and now I got metal in my blood. cant figure how I could have lived without it before.
mystry: built your own house now that is something. I remoldeld the last house i had basically gutted the place and started over. Now I am thinking about doing what you did building my own....I think I may be insane. What scares me is I am working it out in my head first...step one get land, step two buitl shop on land, step three built house. Of course i need a more detailed plan first

I wish I had built my shop first to help with the house. As a result I used the liveingroom and kitchen as a shop and the finishing was a task
Its not that hard if you have a building inspector like I had. He came by during the morning on his way to work and we plotted out the taskes that came next. We drew out the plumming on the subfloor and i trasfered it to paper took it to lowes and bought the things I needed and crawled under the house and put it up.....now it didn't go all that simple but I got it in and it works lol....

Yep I know what you mean always sounds simple till you start and find the bumps in the road. I can relate on the shop in the house. The house i remodeled the radial arm saw lived in the parlor area as well as the router and various other things that made lots of saw dust!!! IT was not pretty for a while!!!! Good memories though. All that matters is that it works when you got it all done and that you are happy with it!!!
