sharpen blades in the machine?

sharpen blades in the machine?

does any one have any thoughts on those hones for sharpening blades while they are still in the machine. I had one once and cant find it. Was considering buying on again. Who out there owns and uses one?

sorry for the lack of info. The knives in both my jointer and the planner.

Mr D, I have not used one, but I am not a fan of the concept.

Firstly you are sharpening parallel to your cutting edge- a lesser way to sharpen as on a microscopic level, the ridges you create create a duller edge.

Secondly, There is no way to remove a burr from the back of the blade without messing with the flatness.


I think you would be better jointing your jointer knives- a scary proposition, but perhaps more effective.
