mmmmmmmmmm would ahve been nice if you had put a piece of PVC through the wall befor pouring it. You could have run your line through that.
But you will have to use a hammerdrill with a masonary bit to drill it. Not sure if they make one 8" long though but I am thinking they do. Try to remeber where the rebar is so you don't drill into it. Mayby someone else has a better way but thats the only way I really know.

tour,

I should have mentioned that I am waiting to do it because I dont want to attract attention to the fact that i am going to put water in the studio. It would mean applying to the board of healt and I wanted to avoid the delay, plus a building inspector advised me to slip it in later since it was only a slop sink.

That is a deep hole with a hammer drill...I hope there is another way

Easy drilling in fresh concrete. You may want to rent a core drill to get a big enough hole. Mr douglas?

Hello Nico,
To drill that hole is not that hard at all, with the right tools. I did just what you are asking about in our house for the supply lines to the shop for power and water. I rented a large hammer drill and core bit from our local rental center. The core does what it describes. It drills a hole with a center core. The only trick is that the core bit only drills 4 or 5 inches deep until the center bottoms out. so you drill to full depth. remove the drill and break out the "core" left in the wall than start drilling again. With you concrete being fresh, it will be quick work. It drills very fast with a good bit and a large drill. (a 10 min Job once everything is set up.)
good luck

nektai,

i assume your 8" dimension is the wall thickness, right? you may want to drill two holes one for water line, say 1 1/2 - 2" and 5-6" for 4"waste (not sure the OD of schedule 40-80 pipe) Try not to hit rebar  Please report back on DT's 10 minute prediction

"Try not to hit the rebar" is a good point. The horizontal rebar will be exacty above each tie back pin. The tie backs are the pins that go thru the forms to hold them together. You will see the obvious ring makrs on the foundation wall. Any bets on the ten min. estimate?

I promise that I will give plenty of notice before I drill the big holes so that all bets can be made.

The weather has not been cooperating but we have made some progress

I have a meeting with the framers in the morning and it would appear as if things are actually going to start...The lumber is a good sign

There are a few factors that are combining to keep me from drilling. I don't now where the dry well is going yet. I am not sure if I am bringing water from the house or using a small cistern. Finally I think I may have to do it all after the final inspection as any hole would be visible to the inspector.

That makes sense, although I guess I thought it would get done totally below grade, but see now that it could be only half below grade and work perfectly.

Glad to see they are making progress. It's exciting to see lumber showing up.

Looking good Nic. Always a good thing to see wood. Means its getting close to being a shop. mmmmmmmmmmmm I'm betting 18 min to drill a hole in that wall.

The operator of this excavator is very skilled but I think he is just showing off with this move.

Framing day 1 was all about plates and prep. They cut the studs, built most of the plates and laid out windows and doors.

Still raining on and off but it has not stopped the progress. Dadude I would ask to drive the skidsteer but knowing me I would bump into the building. I will wait to learn on Crzy's machine in a nice open field.

Steady progress is being made. Below you will see the Sheathing and extensive cross bracing.

Truss day was yesterday, 4 guys walked them up and had them set in a half day.

Image

The rest of the day was spent securing the trusses from the inside.
