Decent mobile machine bases??

Post by DenaliPilot »

I tried a quick search but didn't find this topic previously covered here.

I'm looking for a mobile base for my table saw- I'm estimating the saw at maybe 600#, with a footprint of about 16" x 28" It sits on a pretty clean, smooth concrete slab.

Been looking at some of the options on Amazon, etc, and the reviews all seem to be split among people who are pleased, and people who seem to find all the options under-built and deflection-prone.

Figured this crew would know what works

Thanks in advance,

Hey Dp,

No experiences with mobile bases for me, but if I was going to need one, i'd be tempted to design and build my own!

My one useful input is that I would cut your weight estimate in half.

Pete: I'll go with your downward estimate. That was pretty much of a WAG based on too many times picking up and moving all the parts.

Thanks for the .02

I've got HTC bases under both my Unisaws. I've no major complaints. Both have been tweaked to play happily with my existing saw setups, but that was not the fault of their design.

That said, I don't move my saws often. They do move when I need to get the fork at the cant rack next to them, or if I need to do a heavy cleaning, but that's only a few times a year...
