My new paperweight

Post by Lebo »

Hello. I could really use some help getting my tannewitz JSW 250 table saw going. I need to remove the stub arbor. If I am standing in front of the saw should I push or pull on the wrench to get this monster off. I am sure I will have many more questions. This is the first of many problems I am going to have to get this thing running. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I am not sure if this will help with your specific saw

Hello Lebo,
I have the manual on a 16" XJ, I will look up the stub arbor direction. I also have an old XJ parts saw. let me know if you need anything.

All. Thanks for the information. Mr. Douglas T. Do you have that manual in a PDF file? I would really like to have a copy. I got the arbor off with the leverage of a 5' pipe. It was indeed left hand threads. Pulled towards me to get it off. I went ahead a pulled the motor out to take it to a shop to see about a rewind and confirm that it had at some point been rewound for 440 single voltage. I did not have to remove the top or remove the elevator assembly to remove the motor. It was a little tricky. Hope I can get it back in. I also took most of the motor apart. I do not have the tool to get the rear retaining nut off but the front collar came off fairly easily. I was a little worried after seeing all the trouble swparish had. Anyway, I am still hoping that it has the ability to go 220 w/o a rewind but everything I have read tells me that it has been rewound to 440 single voltage. Motor looked very clean and most of the nuts and bolts came off w/out a fuss. The total price will be more than I wanted but it should be worth it. Nice sliding table on this one.

Lebo, see the thread next to this on transformers to get more information about the cheapest way to run a 440 only machine.

Also, how about a pic of the saw?

Crzypete. I will check out the thread. I am out of town today but will attempt to post picks when I get back into town. I am dumb when it comes to electric motors. I was under the assumption that a 440 single voltage motor is wound in some different manner than a 220. I think I found a good motor guy and he thinks it will just be a matter of some soldering new leads. $75 if I am lucky. Will let you know.
