Is the green tape better than the blue painters tape I have used? Green is new to me.

Nice progress!

Beautiful!

This lathe is going to be a work of art.

I would love to hear about the scraping process. Was it done by hand? How did you know it was time to have it done?

I like that drain valve. If I had a real compressor I would be interested in it. Crzy- It seems like the right solution for your set up. I did not look at the completed auctions but if you can get it for $25 why not give it a try. You could shoot right into your sewer line or route out of the buildi...

Toolslinger, I am curious about your timed drain. It sounds like a good solution for dealing with moisture in the tank. my fear would be if the unit malfunctioned. Do you feel confident enough to leave the compressor and drain switch on all the time? EDIT: I forgot to place my vote for a one piece i...

I am sure that there are good arguments either way. Before I weigh in i would like to know how you drain moisture from the tank? My little compressor benefits from being tilted while being drained. If the big boy need the same tricks then having the head separate would be helpful.

Brad,

I am curious about the failure. It sounds terrifying. Is there a cautionary tale that could help us avoid the same fate? I suppose what I am asking is what happened?

Great stuff! Is the plan to use the mill to make the wood for its own building? Will you be pouring a slab under it some day? I rented one of those trailers once. It made moving my shop so much easier. Ever since that rental I have dreamt about owning that trailer with a skid steer...It is nice to s...

Great job!

If you have any more pictures of the arbor and the dado stack mod it would be helpful to see them. You have clearly modified your saw with great care and I am inspired to get to work on mine.

Thanks

Welcome Jim,

It sounds like you have re made the Hammond to serve your needs. I am always interested in seeing the results. I am sure I will learn something that will help me as I modify mine.

Lets see it!

I vote for locking drawers. I say this knowing that the cart acts as a lifting platform for your crown. I think locking drawers would be the most useful 8' up in the air. Plus my shelf gets awful dusty.

I am very impressed. I dont think I have ever seen a metal lathe taken apart to this level. I would be terrified that i would forget a part when it goes back together. What is your system for keeping things straight? I have resorted to shooting video of some of my complicated projects. It has saved ...

Yes it is clear now the lock ring is threaded the opposite of the nut that locks the cutter in place.

Thanks

Thanks Dadude.

Crzy got the picture to me. It will help a lot. Am I correct that it is reverse threaded? As I write this I had a flash that you may have already answered this.

Nice score! That turret on the southbend could be useful. Ant the j head seems to be in good shape. How big is the table? I have the same power feed and I am sure that you will love it.
