They originally came in some flavor of machinery gray most likely. As to what you should use, well, its your saw, and you want to enjoy looking at it as well as using it, so pick the color scheme that you think you'll enjoy. There isn't really a right and wrong, they're not exactly collectors items ...

I've got HTC bases under both my Unisaws. I've no major complaints. Both have been tweaked to play happily with my existing saw setups, but that was not the fault of their design. That said, I don't move my saws often. They do move when I need to get the fork at the cant rack next to them, or if I n...

Good luck on the second table... They do come up, but it was faster and in fact cheaper (if I ignore driving to Baltimore to get it) for me to buy the complete second machine to get one, and then part the rest out to other folks... As a result mine is a mix of the round corner cabinet like yours and...

Man... You scored nicely on the edge guide... Only way to beat it would be to have a second table for it too... I did the complete tear down/restore on mine, which required buying a complete second machine to get all the needed parts... It had been sitting outside for some time, and it was rusted so...

Well Pete covered that nicely... Mags are not only industry standard, but a requirement in a business situation. They're one of the good things that OSHA makes people do... If you buy a cheap piece of crap, you can have issues, but anything of any quality will last you a lifetime most likely... Buy ...

I should add that I found the current on/off switch Delta uses on their contractor saws to be a decent option. It is still more or less a toggle switch, but it mounts out on the table edge, and has a paddle to turn it to off, and guard against bumping it on. If I had to do it again though, I'd get a...

Can't be much help on this... I did run the 10" equivalent for a while though, and then a newer 10" version for years... What I found was I ended up extending the table further back than you've got there now. I did so to keep the motor covered completely, for a couple reasons. One was that...

Do the variable pulleys move vertically so you can change position on the step pulley?

Do not try cutting steel pipe with a carbide blade... That's a good way to get hurt... They do in fact make carbide tipped blades to cut steel, but they are for specific saws, not the average miter saw... You could mount an abrasive blade on a regular saw to make the cut, but that's a major mess. I'...

You'd have to pull the spec on that one. I only see a single time setting on that, so it probably has a fixed discharge time. Mine is similar to this one. With a discharge time, and a repeat time. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230350573347 My compressor is buried in an insul...

Well as I know the tank you're dealing with... That thing was a mother to move around when the head and motor were on top... Now, if you've no plans to move it, then make it as one... I had a timed drain setup on it... It shot a burst of air out the drain for 2 second every 45 minutes... The timer/v...

Brad - Take a look at the Powermatic gear... The 16" machine I have is built like a tank... Hell it might be built from tanks as its a late 40's machine... The bigger gear flavors look just as nice as far as I can tell... General also made (makes?) a nice heavy 20" machine... Parks did 20'...

Nice tour!

Just a couple disconnects there... One for each machine I'd guess, but why not locate them near the machine?

Likely a decent head if nothing is fatal internally... I'm running a 40's vintage Westinghouse that is whisper quiet, and very happy at my house, so you might be just fine with the head you've got... The tank would scare me to no end with that weld... I've got a good size vertical tank (60, or 80 ga...
